Enjoy creating a lei for yourself or a loved one with all you need to make two (2) fresh flower lei! Yes, YOU can sew your own lei! Making lei is one of the most peaceful and long-time creative outlets in Hawaii. This is perfect for anytime, but especially for May Day. May 1st has long been celebrated as a worker's holiday and the festival of spring around the world. However, if you've heard of the phrase, "May Day is Lei Day" then we would guess you're from Hawaii! The non-partisan holiday originated in the early 1920's and its sole purpose was to unite locals and tourist alike with random acts of kindness and to share the "Aloha Spirit." (An intangible but palpable essence in which best exemplifies the hospitality and includsiveness of people from Hawaii.) A lei is more than just flowers sewn on a string, it is an expression of art, it is a celebration of life, and it is a gift of love.
INCLUDED: Each kit will include 1 needle, 2 string, and 120 loose flowers that should make two (2) lei. Instructions on how to sew a lei will also be included in each kit. Flowers included may not be pictured above and will be assorted and mixed based on availability and season. (Kukui Nut and shells are not included.)
Care: Remove loose flowers from box and keep in plastic. Refrigerate. Keep Needle in a safe place - we recommend putting painter's tape on the point to protect the tip (and yourself.)
